I made this simple image a while ago, and forgot to post it. It’s gumballs!
I used the Random Object Index to make the colors scattered across all the balls, while only using one material. I then just used the Rigid Body tools to make them all drop into a box.
I used an HDR image made by Greg Zaal for the lighting, with a node setup created by Ben Simonds. With Ben’s node setup, the lighting was way more accurate and had a lot more control.
I did a fair amount of compositing on this one. Because the raw render was pretty boring.

It was a lot of nodes, but they were all pretty subtle.

This was just made while I was bored. It’s super simple but I like the result.
